Community Development

Responsibilities

The Community Development Department is responsible for:

  • Coordinating the housing assistance programs
  • Coordinating with other city, local, state departments
  • Ensuring compliance with the applicable planning, zoning, and building requirements
  • Ensuring the City's development-related documents are in compliance with state/federal requirements
  • Monitoring regional/state activities that impact the City
  • Preparing/administrating contracts for special community development-related programs
  • Providing information to the general public on planning, zoning, code enforcement, and redevelopment programs
  • Providing inspections of new construction
  • Providing staff support to the City Manager, Planning Commission, Board Adjustment, City Council, and the general public
  • Reviewing and issuing building permits

Building & Trades Contractors

The City of Duncan Building Code Inspectors have been provided with mobile phones for taking direct calls for inspection requests and building code questions.
